Interesting Team-Building Exercises That Companies Should Try

Team-building exercises can often feel redundant and mandatory, mainly because they are not creative. They resemble something that companies do out of obligation rather than something that is aimed to make everyone feel included and have fun. Younger generations have different ideas of fun, and it is difficult to find something everyone will like. But here are some interesting suggestions that you should definitely try that might make your work environment more jolly.

Board-games

There are so many different board games out there, and truth be told some are pretty complicated or not too engaging. People like playing games, which is one of the reasons why online casinos have become so popular. However, when you are at the office, there are a lot of alternatives to casino games that are easy to get into and plenty of fun. So having board games available at the office will make breaks way more engaging.

Three-word story

This is an old game, and now it’s really easy to pull off, all you need is a shared google doc that everyone can edit. The idea is that each player takes a turn and writes three words, the idea is for everyone to participate in the story and add three new words that will make sense. The end result can be really funny.

Escape room

Escape rooms have been around for quite some time but still remain a very popular group activity. Having a larger team can help you create competition and see how everyone is good at working together and solving puzzles. It’s one of the best team-building exercises because it requires critical thinking, team-work, and precision. The puzzles are formulated in a way that everyone can contribute and they are really fun.

Hobby club

This is another easy exercise and it makes everyone feel included. Basically, employees gather around and share their hobbies and interests. It allows everyone to get to know each other better, and even discover hobbies they did not know about, maybe even find someone who shares their enthusiasm.

Paintball

This is another team building activity that has been popular for a long time, and it’s for a reason. This is simply a great teamwork exercise, but the reality is not everyone will like it. So, if you choose to go with paintball, make sure it does not feel mandatory for those who do not enjoy it. This is mainly an activity that large corporations can do because they have different departments so it’s fun to have a competition between them. For a smaller company, you might don’t have enough people for a team fight, but you can always ask another small company to compare against you.

Office Trivia

This is a great activity for those who love quizzes and competitions. The playing field is pretty even, as questions are all related to the company and the office. So you can ask things, what software the company is using or anything similar. It’s a good way to see how much your employees are paying attention to these things, and if they know the responsibilities of other departments etc.

Back to back drawing

This is very interesting for a company with a small team. Basically, you draw on someone else’s back and they need to guess what you drew and replicate that on another player’s back, and then they do the same. The last step is to compare the first and the last drawing.
